A detailed step-by-step guide for YTU students applying to Erasmus+, including timeline, documents, scoring, and funding.

📅 Application Timeline

  • When to Apply: Applications open in the Fall semester, with specific dates varying yearly. Check the Erasmus website regularly for updates.
  • Duration: You can apply for one semester or a full year, but total mobility cannot exceed 12 months.
  • Eligibility: Preparatory class students are not eligible.

🧮 Scoring Criteria

Your Erasmus score is based on:

Total Score = 50% CGPA + 50% English Proficiency Score

  • Undergraduate students: Minimum CGPA of 2.4/4.00
  • Master’s/PhD students: Minimum CGPA of 3.0/4.00

🗣️ English Proficiency

You need at least 60% in one of the following:

  1. National Exams

    • YDS, E-YDS, or YÖKDİL (valid for 5 years)
  2. International Exams

    • Any exam listed in the ÖSYM Foreign Language Exams Equivalence Table (e.g., TOEFL, DELF/DALF)
  3. Institutional Exams

    • IYS (held by YTU’s foreign languages department, valid for 2 years)
    • Erasmus+ Foreign Language Proficiency Exam (offered after application period)

Note: Erasmus+ exam results from past years are not valid.

🔍 Research Host Universities

Before applying, check:

  • Extra language requirements
  • Required certificates
  • Available departmental quotas

📊 Ranking & Priority

Your ranking depends on your total score.

  • Point Adjustments:
    • -10 points for missing placement meetings or withdrawing after acceptance in a previous year
  • Higher scores = more options (limited quotas per university)

🌐 Application Platforms

Apply on both platforms:

  1. UA Portal – log in via e-Devlet
  2. YTU Erasmus Portal – log in using OBS info:
    • New user → Erasmus+ → Student → Outgoing Student

💡 Upload your UA application PDF to KION system
💻 Use a laptop or desktop for smoother application

💸 Grants & Funding

  • Grants: Typically awarded to the top 25% of applicants per department
  • Amount: Depends on the host country’s cost of living
  • Disbursement:
    • 80% before departure
    • 20% after return (upon fulfilling all responsibilities)

✅ Final Steps

  1. Attend Departmental Meeting – choose your preferred university
  2. Nomination – your department nominates you
  3. Host University Process – follow their guidelines
  4. Visa Application – after receiving your acceptance letter

⚠️ The acceptance letter does not guarantee visa approval
